Our Story
Sigma
Tau Nu fraternity was founded on March 14, 1949. Since the beginning, the brothers of Sigma Tau Nu (a.k.a. the Sigs) have
sought to build fraternity with men of academic, social, and intellectual initiative, who will uphold and strengthen the traditions
and standards of the college. Our goal is to strengthen each of our members in all of their endeavors. Our
motto is Nulli Secundus, Latin for “Second to None”. Each Sig lives by this motto and aspires to be the best in
everything we do. This is apparent as our members carry leadership roles in numerous groups and organizations across
the Heidelberg
campus, including, but not limited to, the Inter-Fraternity Council, the Kilikilik, Student Activity organizations, and the
athletic, music and theater departments.
A new
member knows he has become a Sig as a result of the personal growth he developed within the fraternity. Sigma Tau Nu fraternity
was founded on the idea that as a group we support the individual aspirations of each member within a fraternal unity.
During the new member education pledges gain the skills to be brave, self-reliant, and ever striving to better themselves.
Each member is committed to one another, and believes in the strong vows we have taken and the real brotherhood that
has developed throughout our years together.
The Sigs
pride ourselves in giving back to the college, Tiffin, and
the worldly community. Annually the members of Sigma Tau Nu fraternity raise money for the American Cancer Society with a
24 hour Rock-a-Thon. In past years the event has raised thousands of dollars. Other community service activities include visiting
the elderly at Elmwood, assisting ‘Berg students with tutoring programs, and assisting with the care of animals at the
Tiffin Humane Society. The Sigs can only exist when they are the best in everything we do, with a willingness and determination
to always guide the way for all.
Our Mission
To guide and strengthen each of our members in all of their endeavors, while offering support and service to the college
and each of its ambassadors.
